Is my data really private?
Yes. There are no transcription servers. Audio is processed on your Mac's GPU and discarded after processing. No audio, transcripts, or dictated content are sent to us or logged by us. The app emits no analytics events apart from Crashlytics crash diagnostics, and may keep local transcript history on your Mac so you can review and clear it.
Does it work without the internet?
Internet required on first launch to download the required on-device models. Keep at least 3 GB free during setup. After setup, the app works offline.
How good is the transcription?
It's powered by OpenAI's Whisper model running directly on your Apple Silicon GPU. You get cloud-level accuracy without the cloud. Most people see text appear within a second.
Will it work on my Mac?
You need macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later and Apple silicon (M1 or newer). Internet required on first launch to download the required on-device models. Keep at least 3 GB free during setup. After setup, the app works offline. Intel Macs are not supported
What if I don't like it?
You get your money back. Email me within 30 days and I'll refund you in full. No reason required. Here's the Refund Policy.
What if I get a new Mac?
Your license covers one Mac at a time. If you switch to a new Mac, just move Presto over. No need to buy again.
What if you stop working on it?
Presto has no cloud transcription dependency. Once setup is complete, transcription runs on your Mac instead of someone else's servers. That's one of the advantages of local software: your voice-to-text workflow does not depend on cloud processing.
